They have been running reruns of The Simpson Halloween specials all week in my corner of the world. I forget how funny they are. You can tell the writters for the show seem to take a special intrest in the Halloween shows. ---

The hardest I have ever laughed at a Simpsons episode was a Halloween episode. When Burns puts the brain with the attached spinal cord on his head and says, “Look at me! I’m Davy Crockett!” It’s so out of left field, it just gets me. ---

I love the Treehouse of Horror specials! I get a kick just by reading the opening and closing credits. ‘Morbid Matt Groening’ ‘James Hell Brooks’ ‘Redrum Richard Sakai’ etc My favourite is the one with Willie the Groundskeeper that was based on The Shining. “It’s the shinnin’!” An interesting episode summary of TOH V is found at [http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F03.html](http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F03.html) ---

Has anyone else here seen the “Shinning” sketch _before_ actually seeing _The Shining_? “Homer[sup]3[/sup]” was one of my favorite ToH episodes. “It’s like that twilighty show about that zone.” You can tell the writers and the software guys had a lot of fun with the math in-jokes(the hexadecimal string in 3D land, “46 72 69 6E 6B 20 72 75 6C 65 73 21”, decodes as “Frink rules!” in ASCII) and the Myst references. Actually, that whole episode was great, with the Grounds- keeper Willie/“Nightmare on Elm Street” parody and the giant ad mascots on the rampage. I also love “The Omega Man” parody, when the Franch detonate a neutron bomb over Springfield, turning the survivors into skin-eating mutants. Fav lines: (Dramatic) But Aquaman, you cannot marry a woman without gills. You’re from two different worlds! (the missile closes in on him) Oohh, I’ve wasted my life… – Comic Book Guy Hibbert: Hmmmm. Through the midst of all the killing and skin-eating, somehow we forgot the love. Moe: Yeah, ain’t that always the way, you get nuts with the skin-eating. But the all-time best ToH episode is “Citizen Kang” Kodos: I am Clin-Ton. As overlord, all will kneel trembling before me and obey my brutal commands. [crosses arms] End communication. Marge: Hmm, that’s Slick Willie for you, always with the smooth talk. Kent: Senator Dole, why should people vote for you instead of President Clinton? Kang: It makes no difference which one of us you vote for. Either way, your planet is doomed. DOOMED! Kent: Well, a refreshingly frank response there from senator Bob Dole. Kang: Abortions for all.[crowd boos] Very well, no abortions for anyone.[crowd boos] Hmm… Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others. Kodos:My fellow Americans.
