# Are stag/hen nights an international tradition?

Is it only a Western tradition to have these pre-wedding parties at which the bride or groom get drunk (and generally humiliated) with friends and family of their own sex or are they common in different cultures?

In the US they are called batchelor and batchelorette parties.
