# Are the 'isolated' tracks on Youtube really the original recordings?

I see a lot of supposedly “isolated” instrument and vocal tracks from classic rock songs posted. But I very much doubt if the real original multi track tapes are available… legally, at least.  
Often it is said that these are “rock band” game tracks… but are those real? I suspect they have been recreated by session musicians for the game? Anyone willing to spill the beans?

My understanding was that most (though likely not all) of the stuff after the original few Guitar Hero games was done with the cooperation of the labels and artists and mostly did use original recordings by the artists to create the game tracks.
