I agree with this. Alternatively, just use cities with existing facilities, rather than using the Olympics as a promise of come-uppance on the world stage. Some countries and cities are just better equipped to handle an event like this, and others not. It seems so wasteful to build all these future ghost-cities in the middle of no where (Sochi), or in a city that has no business hosting since they have so little existing infrastructure (Rio). Also, who says it has to be hosted in one city, how about expanding to a region or state that may already possess most of the needed facilities (e.g. Northern California)?
