“Freakin’ at the Freakers Ball” by Doctor Hook and the Medicine Show. Most of the lyrics refer to hetero activity, but there are a couple of lines that explicitly refer to gays, and the general implication is that anything goes. ---

I’m understandably a bit sensitive about misinformation circulating about trans people. FYI, gender identity and sexual orientation vary independently of each other. In other words, they have nothing to do with each other and please don’t confuse them. ---

I first encountered it in a comic that Vaughan Bodé wrote and drew (circa 1975) to describe his own gender fluidity, a concept Ray Stevens tried (with limited success) to address. I added this song because (A) not a lot of songs in public release deal with the topic at all, much less in a way you would approve of, and (B) the topic as stated didn’t specify songs that dealt with it with great sensitivity. It’s my impression that Ray Davies wrote “Lola” to prank his road manager, not for anything higher-minded than that, but its repeated inclusion in this thread seems to evade your indignation. But feel free to single me out for your opprobrium. ---

Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck Babe” is about a woman who left her for a man. That’s a very popular song.
