No, i do not take “mediums” seriously. Most of them are con artists, who relay on cold reading to make their efforts sound real. but in the case of your deceased dog, what would such a medium tell you? “Lucky” is feeling fine and likes his food? ---

Sure. They have no qualms about separating a sucker from his money and will use whatever story the mark wants to hear. ETA: I believe they call it “facilitating” if they claim to speak for your living pet, and “channeling” if your pet is dead. And it’s not as if a pet, living or dead, can call them on anything they say. ---

If you believe even an infinitesimally small number of humans have this ability, why? How would or could consciousness possibly survive after death? I am always curious as to what causes someone to believe in such things with no proof other than the claims of excellent showmen and women, and with peer-reviewed case studies that have proven many times that mediums are delusional at best and charlatans at worst with no success duplicating their feats in double-blind experiments. ---

They’re called animal communicators and yes it’s a huge sham. I work in dog rescue and have many friends who believe in this shit. I admit I do lose a little respect for my friends who swear up and down that “my communicator” is the Real Deal while quietly disregarding other ones. They’re all scammers. I’ve seen (not directly, I don’t work with these people) them claim to: talk with lost (but alive) pets directly through the ether or god knows what talk with lost (but alive) pets by looking at a photo talk with lost (but alive) pets by touching a blanket or toy talk with lost (but alive) pets by asking another pet (dead or alive) to “connect” him/her with the communicator and the all of the above with dead pets also. Once I tried to help some friends find a lost dog, and in order to recruit volunteers to help us search and post flyers, we posted on Facebook. Several scammers (communicators) messaged me claiming to know where the dog was. They gave us hints like he’s near a blue house, in some bushes, near a McDonald’s. We’d go look and find nothing. When I asked the communicators to come out and help us identify what they were “seeing”, of course none of them would. Never, EVER waste your money on these people. ---

The problem is that a human medium can’t communicate effectively with a canine spirit. So you need a canine medium. I can hook you up with my brother’s dog, who is brilliant at this sort of thing. She can tell you exactly what your dead dog is thinking. And it won’t cost all that much, given what I’m offering to you. ---

I enjoy the TV show The Dog Whisperer. This guy Cesar has studied dogs for 25 years and solves problems by discussing with the owners (who are usually innocently at fault), then spending time training the dog (and the owners!) On one of his programs there was an ‘animal communicator’. 😕 Her dog had been a problem for 3 years. Cesar sorted it out in one day. Why didn’t the animal communicator ask her dog what was wrong?! Because it’s a scam. :smack: :smack: ---

There’s a lady on my local community’s message board who works as a pet psychic, and claims to be able to communicate with your animals without even having to leave her house - she can chat with them at a distance. One day she posted an urgent message asking for help finding her cat that had run away. ---

I would like to believe all dogs go to heaven, but I think that may be far fetched. I definitely would love to hug my faithful dog- JoJo- again, but do I think he would be able to communicate to me in words through a medium? Hardly. :eek: This is a funny thread, right? Not really meant to be taken literally, right? The irony though for me is that I recently brought this topic up with my wife as we were participating in our daily walk. I asked her, “Honey, do you think JoJo might be waiting for me in my room in Heaven?” I must say, her response saddened me when she said, "dogs don’t have souls, but maybe cats are there (she loves cats).
