Me and Herm ain’t schizophrenic.

Now cut that out!

Ditto.
I find it odd that anyone would publicly agree with much of anything I would post, not so much because it isn’t true but because it’s usually either way out there or painfully obvious.
Then a single SDMB poster said “me, too” to a few of my posts over a short period of time and I was concerned that perhaps it was I was I who was the sock.
But then the same fellow called me out soon thereafter on something I had posted that wasn’t true in all cases and I had indeed used that “never” word, so I felt much better.
No, my personalities use the same screen names to talk to each other.
No we don’t, Cthulhu has other screen names besides this one, foolish mortal host-being.
There’s only me. Not even my other non-existent personalities want to spend time with me.
Shoot! DreadCthulu was signed in when I went to post that last one…
I DO TOO EXIST!!!
But you’re right, I don’t want to spend time with you.
Me too.
I have an alternate idea, if you don’t mind me butting into this private conversation. They aren’t sock puppets, they’re friends. Two (or however many) posters find that they have similar ideas and/or posting styles. Due to this, they begin interacting with each other more. Through their increased interactions, they unconsciously start adopting each other’s posting styles, which then become increasingly similar.
Time to figure out who posts a lot like Phlosphr.
Uh…yeah…the Symposium…

[sub]I wish I was back in Phoenix, this cold weather in CT sux[/sub]
I’m such a sock. :smack:
I believe the phenomenon you describe is better termed “enmeshment.”
Ed Zotti and Cecil Adams are socks of eachother. I think they are the only legitimate sock. Hell, when he posts as Cecil he uses the troll personna and insults people (and for some reason they like it) and when he uses Ed he is typically posting in an official capacity. I guess I should stop searching through the boards for their posts, huh?
Anyway, I have noticed a lot of people seem very similar on certain topics but on other topics they are almost completely opposite. Isn’t there a form of Multiple Personality Disorder where the people share some common traits while having opposing views in others?
No, they don’t. Check your DSM.
A person with MPD might do such a thing, but probably they got more stressful things going on in life than checking message boards.
But it’s neat to think that someone out there would actually do such a thing as write with a couple pseudonyms to themselves.
