Are there too many comic book movies

NO!

There is not too many comic book movies and a pox on anyone who says there are!

We are in the glory days when CG has advanced to a degree to finally be able to transform the magic on a drawn page or a cartoon seamlessly into real live action product! You might as well say there are too many romantic comedies, too many action movies, too many thrillers, horror films, dramas, etc.

With those other movies, we’ve been able to see them for 50 years. There has never been the kind of winnowy super men floating through the air as real looking as the nose on your face until now. We’ve seen enough explosions to last a life time, enough car chases, enough kissing, enough cliffhanging, enough amorphous blob in the dark but we’ve never seen a man punch a building to smithereens until now! There is not enough comic book movies, there needs to be more! More until all the wondrous, cosmic properties of the printed page are onscreen! More until Galactus bites into a planet, until Ego strafes past a star, until Celestials duel on the surface of the sun, or Eternity collapses a galaxy against Thanos! Until that is onscreen, more comic book movies!

God yes, especially comic book movies that we’re supposed to pretend are edgy and dark when in fact they are embarrassingly sophomoric.

Is this a jibe at Sin City 2? :stuck_out_tongue:

And Sin City and all the other stupid comic books movies that try to be edgy. They’re movies for little kids, not art.

There’s plenty of foreign and indie movies being made. Hollywood is about people getting punched in the face. In 3D!

I’m not much of a comic book guy but I’m a fan of Batman: The Animated Series, the Justice League series, and the DC straight to home movie stuff. I think most of those are better than the live action movies. Even with the CGI I think live action super hero stuff just fails for me, my brain can’t suspend the disbelief enough to believe a person can lift a car over their head as compared to an animated person doing it. Plus everything just looks silly, like try hard cosplay. I’m ready to be proven wrong but I can’t imagine, say, Harley Quinn being nearly as good if they did it live.

Plus over the top fight scenes tend to be better when animated. That’s true for super heroes, Last Airbender/Korra, mech stuff, Star Wars saber duels, whatever.

You fool! Don’t you know that Superman alone would be able to disarm them by himself in 9.9 seconds? You need Kryptonite H-Bombs to make your plan work!
