For some reason Facebook’s algorithm has turned into a troll: it keeps showing me memes posted by friends of friends whom I’ve never met. My favorite shows Clinton grinning as confetti falls, and it says, “Is that confetti or 30000 shredded emails?” My friend pointed out the basic misconception inherent in this decription of email :). ---

The two most recent examples that made me ask this same question, both from yesterday… 1. There is a newly released audio tape of Tim Kaine screaming obscenities at his daughter. (Its actually the infamous Alec Baldwin tape of 2007). 2. A woman was interviewed at a Trump rally by Sopan Deb of the NYT. She states 3 times in the interview that she cannot support Hillary because Hillary will make it illegal to say Merry Christmas if elected. So yes, they are that effing dumb. ---

I think this place, especially the pit, is a safe haven from them. I’m planning to emerge fully from lurkdom in order to preserve my own sanity. I don’t know any really stupid people IRL, and the friends of friends FB thing and twitter have scared the bejesus out of me. And who in their right mind would allow Ben Carson to operate on their BRAIN? ---

I keep some friends on Facebook from communities I’m not really familiar with. I’m not going to believe what they say just because they posted something but I do like seeing their point-of-view. Silly things like “They’re launching rockets out of Gaza again, I better check the filters in my gas mask.” Just a slice of life from someplace I’ve never been … ---

I mean it’s factually unrealistic for the reason you point out, but a lot of jokes are metaphorical rather than accurate. Good right wing humour is usually pretty hard to come by, PJ O’Rourke excepted. I’d give it a 6. ---

Many of them will be too stupid to find the correct place for them to vote on the correct date. Trump himself recently urged people to get out and vote _on the wrong date._ ---

I spend some time on Facebook but when I post something which attempts to correct a statement made by one of the people the OP is talking about, I almost always include a link to something that will back up what I just said (guess where I learned that?). Whether anyone reads these links or not, I have no way of knowing. I haven’t used a Snopes link yet. I’ll have to remember to do that. Bob ---

Yes, they are. I just got an e-mail from my mother containing a story about Hillary Clinton that’s obviously a joke, with the subject line “TRUE STORY” in caps. And scarier, it was forwarded three times with that subject line! Sheesh. ---
