Stupid Internet tests! ☹ I’m another home-based cook who doesn’t know (or care) about restaurants in NYC or SF that I’ll never make it to; but I can pick and cook my own boletes, and I know how to use five different traditional soybean products in appropriate and delicious dishes, and I’ve invented recipes that garner me marriage proposals and foster spiritual conversions in their consumers. Aw c’mon, guys. Only _two_ of the 20 questions concerned fancy restaurants. (And both of 'em in northern California, so lay off bashing New York.) Besides, “foodie” isn’t the most flattering term out there. It has connotations not only of being able to press your own home-grown olives for oil, but of lining up in front of the latest trendy _boite_ in order to sample the latest trendy chef’s _ficelles a derriere du cheval_. ---

**Uke** : Strings of horse’s ass? The coconut milk one got me, too. Unless that canned stuff is technically called “coconut cream”? Can’t remember. I, also, never heard of Barkeeper’s Friend, although I have a couple of hopelessly blackened pans I’m thinking of trying it on, if it’s that good. ---

1. Missed coconut milk,Panko, the SF restaurant, Barkeeper’s Friend and the beet. Actually I feel that the Debonaire Diner fits me; I really like to cook and eat but am not all that progessive or obsessive about it. ---
