I am the founder, chief executive and marketing director of this thread. I am on a recruitment drive, and currently wish to headhunt new members who have a low popularity quotient in the SD virtual community. This thread is the bastard half-sibling of its very antithesis, locatable [there](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=383098). Membership here is free to any poster not thus far mentioned as _A Poster You’d Like To Get To Know Better_ elsewhere, and who can also answer one or more of the following questions correctly: 1. Are you overcome by nostalgia for the time when people wanted to get to know you better? 2. Was there ever a time when people wanted to get to know you better? 3. Do you think there ever will be a time when people want to get to know you better? Please be truthful when answering the above questions. However, when posting, include as much fictional detail as possible concerning your state of virtual unpopularity. Telling the truth is frowned upon because of any depressive emotions which may ensue. Remember, if you wish to preserve your unpopularity it is necessary to join this thread and meet others in the same situation. This is what is known as a virtual paradox. Rules. 1. Membership benefits will be granted to any poster posting to this thread, but see rules 2 and 3. 2. Posters to this thread will be excluded from membership if they have been nominated as _A Poster You’d Like To Get To Know Better_ elsewhere. (We don’t want any popular people in our thread, thank you very much.) 3. If a poster is nominated as _A Poster You’d Like To Get To Know Better_ elsewhere _after_ becoming a member of this thread (unlikely but theoretically possible), he or she must resign membership immediately. People can’t have it both ways. 4. Membership will close at my sole discretion and the thread will be locked. This is to inhibit posters from waiting as long as possible to see whether somebody thinks they are popular elsewhere, before realising they are in fact totally unpopular and join this thread as a ‘second best’ option. 5. Views only of this thread are discouraged. A view without a post indicates 1) a cry for help 2) covert surveillance by occupants of the other thread or 3) a desire to mock the unpopular. 6. Members are requested not to read the other thread more than 20 times per day to check whether they have been mentioned in it yet. Also, the more members read the other thread the more chance there is of popularity hints being absorbed by the member. This may compromise the member’s membership of this thread. If anyone else has a rule they think would be useful then please post it here, subject to rule 1 above. ---

I must admit that I was mentioned after posting in that _other_ thread, but no one came out and said they’d like to know me better. More like “Hey, yeah! You’re right Bob, I’d like to know those other people as well!” I thought I was doing good around here, **Der Trihs** called me a murderer once, which I thought was the fast-track to fame and fortune, but alas. I guess I’m just not abrasive enough… ---

I dread those threads that ask “Which posters do you think are (cool, funny, sexy, smart, entertaining, or tolerable) ?” If I’m not feeling bad when I open them, I surely will be by the time I’ve come to the end without finding my name. I know folks aren’t scrolling right past my posts. When I make a mistake, somebody is right there to point it out. When they are asked to think of a poster they’d like to have a drink with, though, it is never this tall dark stranger. ---
