Nope. While I find bits of my job satisfying, it’s still something I do because I have to. Given the chance to stop working, I’d do so in a heartbeat - I have tons of hobbies I find way more satisfying than my work, and would far rather devote my time to them.

My boss is a workaholic - she’s completely devoted to the company, and they really take advantage of her. When I first started, she was giving me a tour of the building, and started to explain the alarm codes “because you’ll need to set it if you’re working after 9pm”.

She seemed somewhat surprised when I replied that if I was ever still here after 9pm, it would mean my husband had kicked me out of the house.

I was thinking about this the other day. If I was wealthy, I would still do some variation of what I do now, but I just wouldnt’ take any crap off anybody.

> See, this is completely the opposite of how I define workaholic. If you dislike your job, but work long hours for other reasons (need money, fear that you won’t be able to find another, desire to please your boss, etc.) you are not a workaholic. If you have the choice to be doing other things, but you _choose_ to work instead, that to me is a workaholic.

I was attempting a joke about a workaholic ‘hang-over’. It must have failed. 😉

I have two modes - workaholic and total sloth. Balance is a challenge for me. I’m currently preparing for a vacation with zero internet or cell access in the middle of a challenging project. I suspect I’ll be insane for the first couple days until I slip into sloth mode.
