Hmm… People actually _care_ about this?! (I can see it from the cat-owner POV, though) I have a friend who’s obsessive-compulsive about this issue and I frequently turn his roll around just to hear him curse (I think he’s an top-of-the-roll-person). He’s an otherwise very intelligent and eloquent young man, and I guess I tick him off like this just to have him argue that doing something is just inherently _wrong_ by definition. It’s funny that he, for once, is the one without sound arguments for his point but is forced to use circular logic. Only other thing that does this to him is eating un-cooked spaghetti in his presence. Or on the phone. ---

Usually an under-roller. However, I do enjoy the over-roller situation in a hotel where they fold the corners. I just never seem to do that at home though. Go figure. ---

I’m a confirmed over roller. It’s easier to get to, and luckily, the cats don’t seem to care. I discovered that my SO is an over roller as well, when I wasn’t paying attention and put the roll on ‘wrong’ in his apartment on the second date. I noticed it was backwards (for me) but I didn’t want to be an anal freak and switch it. He switched it and told me of his preference. And we lived happily ever after. ---

I’m a B person. A-folks are silly. In the majority apparently, but silly nontheless. [mini hijack] A related question is why some people refer to the controversy as 1) rolling off the top vs bottom while others call it 2) rolling off the front vs back. Where I live, gravity works downwards and the paper never hangs up off the top. It always hangs down off the bottom. And it hangs down either from the front or the back of the roll depending on how you install it. So on the complete version of the Great Rolled Paper Controversy ™, I’m a B2. A all the way. It’s annoying to have it hanging right against the wall – tearing it is a real pain. And yes, I have been known to switch the TP in other people’s bathrooms, but only when I’ll be staying for a couple of days or something. Hopefully by the time I leave they will have learned the obvious benefits of the A approach (forgetting the cat issue for the moment). ---

Frontroller and Backroller just sounds dumb. The things people choose to argue about on this board. Sheesh! Actually A does kind of bother me in public restrooms. You know those oblong weighted hangers they install that I guess are supposed to make tearing easier? If the roll is installed in the A position that weight just seems to make it worse. In the other position, I can unroll one revolution, let it swing back down and if I can time it just right the weight of the hanger will help to tear the paper off. I can’t seem to get it to work when the paper is overrolled. Unfortunately it seems that the majority of people are overrollers. ---

Hmmm… it seems that the “controversy” (if you can call it that) is between those who want the ease and convenience of unrolling vs. those who want to be able to tear the paper off easily without the whole roll unrolling. You wierdos that want the ease of unrolling (Type A’s)… what the heck is wrong with your wrist? What you don’t have the strength to freaking pull a damn 5 oz roll of toilet paper? How hard is that anyway? Sheesh! What happens when you yank on the roll and it just keeps coming? Then you got to reroll it back! Seems like that’s a lot harder than tearing off a piece. And you can never reroll it back nicely. 😃 Hope this doesn’t start a pit thread. 😃 ---
