Are you anticipating the Horror Channel?

I’d look forward to it, except that yesterday we got a letter about cable channel changes for the fall and it wasn’t mentioned. On the bright side, those Starz “in-demand” features are going to be a part of our current package.

See, that’s what I’m thinking. I’m afraid the same thing that happened to the Sci-Fi channel will happen to it, basically.

I might as well add my other dreams for this-

Classic Horror Films hosted by Christopher Lee & Ingrid Pitt & Forrest J. Ackerman (tho apparently not with Lee). Also extensive recollection interviews with each. And whatever exists of such interviews with deceased Horror Legends (Cushing, Price, Karloff, Chaneys, Lugosi).

Also Tributes to Local TV Horror Hosts (Sammy Terry for Indiana, Zacherle of course, Elvira, Vampira, the late Seymour).

It is, or it is not, co-hosted by Lee? Or Ackerman and Lee don’t appear together? Or they don’t show Lee’s horror films?

Wow, this is the first I’ve heard of the Horror Channel; the jillelope will be thrilled beyond words, assuming our cable provider picks it up.

I’m dreaming about what THC should have- a classic horror film time with Lee. Pitt &/or Ackerman hosting. the only reservation being that Lee & Ackerman had some dispute over the years (IIRC Lee thinks FJA gave out Lee’s home address, which FJA denies)- tho they may have made up. They don’t update me G

I only pick Lee, Pitt & FJC because FAIK they are the final links to Classic Horror Cinema. Oops! Forgot Corman (tho his latest work has been really sad).

Comedy channel
Horror Channel
Beach Movie Channel
Bowery Boys Channel
Wrestling Channel
Dog Channel (bydogs, for dogs)
Security Camera Channel (Don’t miss California Shopping Mall Week!)
CoCo Channel (think about it)

I do have hopes for this channel. I only hope it shows some of the flicks mentioned, especially some of the more obscure and cheesy movies. Though I can’t shake the feeling that if it does start out that way, it may devolve into only showing movies from the 80’s on.

Uncut!!

Great!!!

I remember when they started selling movies on video being pleasantly shocked to discover some of my favorite horror movies had whole scenes of mayhem that I had never seen. I guess they were deemed to shocking for us kiddies on TV!!

There are also the children of Karloff, Lugosi, Chaney, and Carradine. And such people as Michael Gough (Horror of Dracula, Phantom of the Opera, Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors), June Lockhart (She-Wolf of London), Gloria Stuart (The Old Dark House, The Invisible Man), Deborah Kerr (The Innocents, Eye of the Devil), Jane Randolph (Cat People, Curse of the Cat People, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein), Russell Wade (The Leopard Man, The Ghost Ship, The Body Snatcher), Jane Adams (House of Dracula), Elena Verdugo (House of Frankenstein), Ruth Hussey (The Uninvited), director Robert Wise (Curse of the Cat People, The Body Snatcher, The Haunting).

If it’s Highlander 2, I’d be pretty horrified.

I agree that this has a lot of potential, if they mix up the old-school with the new-school with the z-schlock with the independent. On the other hand, if it’s twenty-four hours of Urban Legend and Final Destination clones, count me out.

But if they can get Hammer to cough up some of their rarities (I’d love a cleaned-up print of Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires, for example), or even better pull in some international titles (e.g. Sammo Hung’s Spooky titles), I’ll be all over it.

So, like, when does this Horror Channel go on the air? I can’t find that on the website.

October 31st.

But of course!
