I found that the most effective response to an argument put forward by a pro-Trump supporter is “Fuck off!”. It’s unambiguous, uniformly applicable and a real time saver. ---

I will not humor them, I will not forgive them, and I will no longer share any part of my life with them. We are within a hair’s breadth of living in a fascist state. Nothing about this is the least bit funny. ---

Last month, I made sure I had my renewal passport before Trump got to decide who gets passports and who doesn’t. I’m keeping about twice as much cash in the house as I used to, before Trump get around to deciding whose money he will confiscate, even though I’m not Mexican. ---

I was entertaining the idea of going to work for the FDA or NIH after I finish grad school, but it appears there’s already a hiring freeze (and a halt to external grants, and a gag order…) And with a Republican congress, I can’t really count on continued federal research funding for my livelihood. ---
