No, I have my republican cred to worry about, and it already is bruised some because I recycle regularly and drive a fairly fuel-efficient car. I’m already worried that I might be painted as one of those damn hippies if I actually start to remember to use my reusable bags more than 10% of the time and you want me to participate in earth day? sheesh. 😃 ---

I’m noting Earth Day by not driving tomorrow, or at least I don’t plan to drive, I’m just gonna stay home. I think I’m going to plant my little container garden, and maybe take some pictures of the nest that some bird has built on the windowsill of my bedroom. That should actually happen in about 3 hours when they start singing at o’dark thirty in the morning. ---

My company had a cake in the break room for Earth day. I ate a piece, then when it looked like it they were going to throw some away, I ate another one to keep it out of the waste stream. Or at least put it in a different waste stream. ---

Let’s see… On my way to work, I drove a few miles out of my way so I could give my wife her cell phone which she’d left at home. Then my wife and I drove across the street from her work to go to lunch. After we were done, she didn’t want to go right back to work, so I drove around the block for 10 minutes or so before I dropped her off. On the other hand, I have to stop at the store on the way home, and there’s about a 20 percent chance that I’ll remember to bring in the reusable shopping bag that HR passed out to everyone for Earth Day. So there’s that. ---

I bothered to look into a [Bike Friendly Business Recognition Award](http://www.bikeleague.org/programs/bicyclefriendlyamerica/bicyclefriendlybusiness/) for all of five minutes, and emailed it to a few people here at work. It looks like it may actually get some traction. Otherwise, I just sighed in resignation. ---
