I recently came across this:

> [@](#):
>
> Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 6,039,156 people from around the globe.

> **[Official Site | Second Life - Virtual Worlds, Virtual Reality, VR, Avatars,...](https://secondlife.com/)**
>
> Second Life's official website. Second Life is a free 3D virtual world and original metaverse where users can create, connect, and chat with others from around the world using voice and text.

> [@](#):
>
> Is Second Life a MMORPG?
>
> Yes and no. While the Second Life interface and display are similar to most popular massively multiplayer online role playing games (or MMORPGs), there are two key, unique differences:
>
> Creativity: Second Life provides near unlimited freedom to its Residents. This world really is whatever you make it, and your experience is what you want out of it. If you want to hang out with your friends in a garden or nightclub, you can. If you want to go shopping or fight dragons, you can. If you want to start a business, create a game or build a skyscraper you can. It’s up to you.
>
> Ownership: Instead of paying a monthly subscription fee, Residents can obtain their first Basic account for FREE. Additional Basic accounts cost a one-time flat fee of just $9.95. If you choose to own land to live, work and build on, you pay a monthly lease fee based on the amount of land you own. You also own anything you create—residents retain IP rights over their in-world creations.

I haven’t registered, but the idea is intriguing.

So, are you a Second Life Resident?

I have registered and I played around in it, but it lost my interest after about two weeks.

I registered and joined to be at a friends virtual wedding. There are some neat things about it, but the quality of the graphics were kind of lousy. I only went in the once.

It isn’t like my First Life is running so smoothly that I can worry about a second one.

I went in there once. But I got bored because I didn’t have any friends in Second Life.
Then I found myself hanging out at the whorehouses a lot. I was absolutely intrigued by the fact that people pay good money to get a virtual BJ.

Then I went to a bar and got kicked out for life because I accidentally walked up on the stage. The guy who kicked me out didn’t even give me a chance to explain myself!! That bastard!

So apparently I’m more of a pervert and a “bad boy” in Second Life than I am IRL.

It took me a while to make friends, but now I have many, and it’s fun to explore.

Look me up sometime. My avatar’s name is **Cinque Matzerath**.
