I’m 58.

Momma died in 1998 at the age of 74.

Daddy died in 2008, at the age of 84.

I still miss them terribly. I always will.

I have a granddaughter now, born in 2009. She’s named after my mother. I love that.

I’m 63. Both of my parents are still alive at 91, although my mother is pretty well into dementia, and my dad’s short term memory seems to reset at 30 minutes.

My mom is. I think my dad is - nobody has mentioned that he died, but we are estranged.

I’m 43

Can’t answer. My father died 12-1/2 years ago. My mother may or may not be alive. She’d be 78, so it’s possible.

I’m 49. My mother and my step father are still alive. They’re both 65.

My birth father died about 5 years ago from complications of Poly-cystic Kidney Disease. He was 63.

I’m 57, my father’s 86, and my mother will turn 85 in a few weeks. Still kickin’, but not as high as they used to.

1. Mom (70) is still alive and based on family medical history is likely to break 90; Dad died in 2000 (aged 62 - expected based on family medical history).

My Dad is alive and still working at 57, Mum’s 58 and in good health, all things considered. One grandparent, my Mum’s Mum, is still alive and turned 80 this year. She’s fairly healthy - the problems she’s got aren’t likely to kill her.

I’m 41 and both are alive and kicking. Dad doesn’t have much time left; years of alcohol and drug abuse are starting to take their toll. Mom, OTOH, will live to be 100 just out of spite.

ETA: All four grandparents are long gone. The last died about six years ago, at well over 80.

1. My parents are 63 and 62, and both look a good 10 years younger. My dad still lifts weights, my mom still teaches yoga.

My last grandparent died three years ago, at 97.

I have to say one thing - it’s been about a year and a half since Mom died, and at that time I was surrounded by coworkers who had lost a parent - two moms and a dad.

I was stunned at the outpouring of sympathy, of course, but even more so, the _understanding_. I still want to cry sometimes at how good they were to me, without too many words, and how nice it was to be around people who had lost their mothers.

Even better, one of them had an equally rocky relationship with their mother, so she understood all of the dichotomies I was feeling.

Oh, look, I have something in my eye.

I’m 65. My father died in 2002 at the age of 82. My 88-year-old mother is now in assisted living but was living on her own until about a year ago. Her 94-year-old brother (my uncle) is living in the same retirement community but in an independent apartment. So I might have a shot at longevity. 🙂
