I’m trying to find a flat file to download that will map all US area codes to the geographic area they reside in. Getting the state mappings would be sufficient.

Google came up short for me for free solutions. I thought that since this is public data it would be available somewhere for free.

Any ideas?

[Here.](http://www.nanpa.com/area_codes/index.html) Search for “area code database” on that page. It should be a zip file. Is that what you want? (It’s a Microsoft Access .mdb database, not a flat file, but it should be easy to convert. I can do that for you if you need.)

This should do great. I can convert it myself.

Many thanks!
