Arena football cancels the 2009 season

I’m with you on this. Full-size football players playing on a 50-yard field just looked ridiculous. I mean, any game where you could conceivably kick a field goal from your own end zone is wrong on so many levels.

The USFL was fairly successful playing in the springtime; unfortunately, they decided to take on the NFL head-on and got their ass handed to them. Too bad; I enjoyed watching it.

I enjoyed going to see the Philadelphia Soul play. I enjoyed the quickness of the games and the camaraderie of the other fans. I’ve had experiences with other AFL Fan’s that I wouldn’t have had at a NFL game or a Baseball game (Pro or minor league)

I enjoyed the yearly bus trips to see the Soul take on the NY Dragons on their home turf. I will miss the games in 2009 and while they say they will be back in 2010 I don’t have much faith in that.

Lets Go Soul!

I care. I’m glad it folded. Last year I missed the opening of a UNC Tar Heel basketball game thanks to the interminable last 2 minutes of an AFL game that lasted for 15, despite the fact that there was no way the outcome was going to change.

The AFL has hated us for years, but it looks like we Heels have the final laugh.

To be fair, this is true of almost all football and basketball games.

This is exactly how I feel. Especially since the Utah Blaze is so damned popular in SLC that their games regularly sold out.
