At 2:40pm EST yesterday, I posted [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=551927) asking for microscope recommendations. Perhaps your $100 price point is too low to get the attention of the serious Doper microscopers. **Argent Towers** was willing to lay out some serious scratch. ---

Sorry, he bumped his thread before you did yours. You both posted during working hours, when microscope-using people were using their scopes. 😉 I caught the thread after it was bumped later that day. Sorry, I didn’t see yours first. Same things applies, no? In summary: The Excalibur of microscopes costs way more than $100, and microscopes in that price range are not the ones that microscope-using scientists use frequently. Binocular is better that monocular, sorry. Especially binoculars that let you adjust eyepiece distance and have fine focus on their pieces. Y’all have me dumbfounded about why you would want to get microscopes as a hobby. To each their own… ---
