This is an announcement and recruitment thread for the Armchair Generals wargaming group. We play regular ongoing games over at atWar, a free online strategy game resembling the board games Risk and Diplomacy. We play games with 24-hour turns, meaning everyone logs in once per day and spends a few minutes submitting moves. Over the course of a few weeks and months we wage war and make deals until one person’s won. We play on all types of maps, decided on between games - possibilities include a modern map of the entire globe, regional maps (such as an entire game taking place in Europe), historical maps (1700 is a map I enjoy quite a bit), and fantasy maps based on series such as Lord of the Rings and a Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones. Rather than making a new thread for each new game we start I’ll be using this thread to make announcements. Anyone who’s interested in joining us should feel free to let us know in this thread and make accounts both at the atWar site and at Armchair Generals, the site we use as an in-game communication tool and game organizer. Make sure you use the same name at Armchair Generals as you do at atWar to make communicating easier (I can change usernames at Armchair Generals if anyone makes a mistake or changes their atWar username). There are quick games on the atWar site that you can play with strangers with turns lasting just a couple minutes each in case you wanted to get some games in before our next match starts this weekend.
