Look on the bright side : soon enough the drones will be automated. Automated drones can’t be racist \*or \*“fear for their life” ! ETA : also, drone = constant, easily tapped video link. That’s like having flying cops with bodycams, except the bodycam’s hard drive is “a cloud made up of everyone who cares to listen”. And the operator can’t shut if off when some unsavoury shit is about to go down. ---

So these drones are going to use “non-lethal” rubber bullets, bean bags, pepper spray and Tasers? Are there stats as to how many people have been killed by police using these “non-lethal” devices? ---

My comment was stupid and a knee jerk reaction to the so-called sophisticated people in the bigger cities looking down and making idiotic comments about the so-called ‘flyover states’ of which I live in one (but not North Dakota). ---

And of course, we’ll just sit back and wait for the first time one of those drones does something illegal, and strangely, the department is “unable to determine” which of their officers was flying the drone that day, so no one can be disciplined for it. ---

You guys are just a bunch of Luddites. I, for one, am looking forward to D+5 minutes (where D is the day drones are deployed), when one of the drones get hijacked by 4chan and starts spraypainting Dickbutt in teargas all over city hall. Or randomly shooting at people, because 4chan. ---

I’d guess this is a pilot program for an NRA “Hunting With Drones” program. If the police can arm drones, surely law abiding citizens can. Unfortunately, many law abaiding ctizens are not able to go into the wild and do their own killing. But now, flying drones, they can.
