Arrggh… That’s what it was! Yesterday wandering through Melbourne CBD and a huge crowd of pirates wandered past (and later hung around Southbank shouting Argh! at random intervals). We thought it might have been to do with a sporting event, but the teams here aren’t the Pirates. Good to know! ---

In the unlikely even someone hasn’t heard that one… A lad put to sea in the days of Wooden Ships and Iron Men, on a two-year Journey of Exploration. As the ship sails, he notices there are no women aboard. Worried, he addresses the issue with the captain. ‘Sir, I… uh… just noticed that there are no women aboard.’ ‘Yes?’ replied the Captain. ‘Well, sir, it’s just that we’ll be gone two years, and there are _no women aboard!_’ ‘Ah,’ said the Captain, ‘I catch your drift. Do you see that barrel sitting on the deck?’ ‘Aye, Captain.’ ‘And do you spy the bunghole in the side?’ ‘Aye, Captain.’ 'We use that, whenever the need arises. Go ahead, laddie. Giver ‘er a try right now.’ The greenhorn goes down to the deck and has his way with the bunghole in the barrel. Satisfied, he returns excitedly to the Captain. ‘Sir! That was fine! I’m going to do that every day!’ ‘You can do it every day, but Thursday.’ ‘Why not Thursday, sir?’ the lad asked, confused. ‘Thursday’s _your_ day in the barrel!’ ---
