It’s a terrific show, but unfortunately it’s pitched too far above the head of the bovine masses to survive. I’ll be counting the days until I can own the complete run on DVD. George Michael: Did you have any trouble with girls? G.O.B- Like when there were three of us and I didn’t know where to start? Lucille: Everything they do is so dramatic and flamboyant. It just makes me want to set myself on fire. ---

Count me as another who would hate to see this show be canceled. One of my favorite moments: Publicist, to George Michael: “You’ve ruined your dad’s last chance at happiness. How do you like that, Opie?” Narrator: “Jesse had gone too far, and had best watch her mouth.” ---

Some thoughts: When did Anyong learn to speak English? I think I missed the one two weeks ago, and it wasn’t on last week, and now he’s talking trash to Buster and joined a soccer team. Was the prison warden James Lipton from “Inside the Actor’s Studio,” or was that my imagination? One of my favorite brief jokes was John Beard (local news anchor) fleeing the restaurant chanting “Can’t be part of the story!” I think the major downfall was that Fox didn’t have a freaking clue how to advertise this show. All the commercials featured sight gags (‘Blind woman pouring coffee on the floor!’) and the running jokes that had little if nothing to do with the story. Even worse, they added a laugh track in the commercials. Down with canned laughs! The problem? A lot of the humor relied on either exposition shown earlier in the episode or on knowledge of the characters, and you can’t get that from a ten-second ad. Instead of “this is a funny, intelligent show” we get “It’s ‘Take Your Daughter To Work Day’ on Arrested Development,” which isn’t going to attract new viewers because they don’t get to see why that’s funny. ---

It is such a great show. It’s the first time in many years that I have watched a comedy on network television. Am I dreaming or was there another episode somewhere in the middle that was axed. It was to follow the episode where Tobias was confronted about his “never-nudeness” by Lindsay. They ended up that episode with the two of them having sex (it was alluded to that this was the first time Tobias had done the deed totally nude). The previews at the end of the show had Tobias coming to the breakfast table the next morning totally naked having been transformed into an “always-naked” due to his romp with Lindsay. Does the episode preview sound familiar to anyone? We Tivo the show so I cannot imagine missing an episode but I suppose it’s possible. ---

Oh my, I feel rather daft right now. :smack: In my defense, I usually don’t watch the “previews” (last scenes) at the end of AD as I switch over to the Sopranos/Deadwood double feature. Now I am wondering how many last scenes I missed. ---

I love the way Gob delivers his lines. He has that smarmy intensity about him. It cracked me up when he confronted “Hermano” about having an affair with his girlfriend. I can’t remember the exact dialog, but it was something like GOB: Are you Hermano? MAN: Como? GOB: Oh, I’ll put you in a como. Also, Tobias’ “catlike” dexterity is quickly becoming one of my favorite gags. On the subject of Maeby, I think she is so beautiful. She’s got this exotic beauty that seems to encompass and yet transcend all ethnicities and races. ---

I tivo this show every week. My boyfriend and I must’ve watched the “… but Tobias was now a guard” shot from this week, when he floors Lindsay, a dozen times on repeat, we were laughing so damn hard. In fact, he’s started every conversation we’ve had on the phone the last three days with “But Tobias was now a guard!” Itll get old in a few days, I guess… Nah. It’ll always be hilarious. Jason Bateman is so hot in this show that it defies words. ---

My favourite scene was: Job: Believe me, we had sex last night. Narrator: But he really didn’t. Just the tone of the voice of the narrator. And later on: Job: And we all know I “closed that deal” right? Narrator: But he really didn’t. Hrmm… Somehow it sounds funnier on the screen. ---

Just wanted to get my 2 cents in here as to how much I love this show. It’s been my favorite TV show this season… even better than this season of Curb Your Enthusiasm (which is unfortunately on opposite AD… bad move on fox’s part). Anyway, I desperately hope Fox does not cancel this show and I really hope the first season comes out on DVD sometime in the near future. Long live Arrested Development! ---

Great show – I need to find the episodes that I missed (and one in the middle of the season that I think didn’t get aired here – the one with Gob getting married, and when Michael first hooks up with the blind/not-blind lawyer). A few favorite moments (although it’s not as much the lines as the _delivery_ of the lines that make them always so funny): * * * (in a diner) Waitress: Plate or platter? (Sounds like “playterplatter?”) Lucille (haughty): I don’t understand the question and I won’t respond to it. * * * Lindsay cleaning up the wetlands and spearing the frog. Nuff said. * * * (getting off the phone with George Sr) Michael: What’d he say? George Michael: Well, if I clean it up, it really isn’t a sentence. * * * George Sr (in Jewish mode): I have to go prepare for Sunday services Michael: Dad, it’s Tuesday.
