I have been a knitter for years; but now I only purchase enough yarn to make a shawl or scarf. That way I have the relaxation of knitting and the chance to touch some lovely new yarn without the expense and time commitment of a larger project.
Oh my, thank you! My friends feed my addictions. Yes, I’m on Ravelry, haven’t posted anything there but have used a few patterns. I need to dig deeper on those sites now… see you in a few days!
I bought my pens and a cute little Minions calendar. I avoided the yarn and needlepoint aisles, although it took a great deal of effort. It took 10 minutes to find what I wanted and 15 waiting in the checkout line…
(With this running commentary in my head - Ooo, wouldn’t it be great to learn to paint? Oh! What a great deal on a beginners calligraphy set! Brand new crayons! I could sew this quilt block set in a few days. Hmmm, do I need more fabric for something…)
My daughter goes to art school in Chicago, and she found this place that was “cheaper and better” than Dick Blick. Really neat place, and they seem to have just about everything.
Oh how I do too! From way back! I would never get a paycheck if I worked at an office/school/art supply facility
Otherwise, 2-3 years prior to this latest 10 dollar drawing book/stupid TV commercial drawing books, I picked up drawing to relax. Didn’t matter what it was that I created, some which I thought were pretty good, it satisfied me. I still have 99% of the drawings Ive done since.
I try to avoid them but sometimes that tracker/tractor (? from Star Trek) beam sucks me in, there’s no hope
Yuh yeah! An hour? I guess it depends on if your husband is waiting, inside or outside
I always wanted to take a water colour class and am doing so. The supply list was expensive, even with a “student” discount. But… I’m having so much fun painting and learning and making mistakes and making progress that I have treated myself to more paint, paper, and books. Now I think I “need” more brushes.
Oh, well, winter is long and dark, and it’s really fun. And my excuse is that until you really begin, you don’t know what tools work for you and that you enjoy using.
I am returned and still obsessed with art supplies; most specifically polymer clay.
I [del] desperately wanted[/del] needed more.
I bought some from the aforementioned Dick Blick with a free shipping coupon.
Then I found Joann had it on sale for 2.09
But (drum roll) the best was actually the Sculpey site only $1.58 for a 2oz bar FOR ALL THE COLORS!! even the NEW ones. Sure they charge shipping; but when you do the math (I love math) it was still much cheaper at Sculpey. Woo Hoo!
