Arthur S. versus Arthur T.: Massachusetts residents only

So how does that work - if someone buys out the company you work for, they’re really legally liable to continue the terms of your contract?

I’m super glad this is all over. Now I don’t need to worry about my brother or a family friend losing their jobs or their houses.

Amen.

Now all the MB shoppers can go back to MB, and stop standing around and bitching about how Donnie Junior’s Count Chocula is thirty cents more at Shaw’s.

To quote Samuel Johnon, “Ignorance, Madam, sheer ignorance.” I thought you were Price Chopper/Hannafords country.

Anyway, all’s well that ends well, for now, and completely contrary to my expectations. Though I have a nagging suspicion that the losing side is contemplating a lawsuit…

What the hell is a Price Chopper?

It’s adiscount supermarket in New England and New York.

As a NH resident, I’m glad to see this saga over and very glad to see the employees get what they wanted.

It’s interesting to note that I went to Hannaford last night and it wasn’t busy at all. Since the Market Basket closings, the Hannafords have all been crazy busy due to the Market Basket customers shopping there. So, it seems things are back to normal.

I’ll go back to Market Basket after this weekend when they will hopefully be less busy. I miss the fresh produce.

I did a huge MB shop this morning and the place was quite well stocked except for a few things. Lots of produce, almost no chicken. The aisles were pretty much filled in. In spite of all the people restocking, the whole place might well be stripped by the end of the day.

And, yes, the employees looked very happy indeed, as did most of the shoppers, myself included.

Headquartered in Schenectady, so I’m in the heart of Price Chopper country. When I moved here my choices were pretty much Price Chopper or Hannaford when it came to traditional supermarkets. Nearly six years later it’s exploded around here: Co-ops in new and bigger locations, even more farmers markets, new specialty stores like butchers and fishmongers, Shop Rite, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Fresh Market. And people still complain that what the area really needs is a Wegmans.

Still, if I’m ever in New England and need to get some groceries, I’ll look to see if there’s a Market Basket nearby. This whole story has made me curious.
