Artificial web-shooter vs. Organic

I think the organic shooters work best for the films since they let you get right into the web-shooting without wasting time on a plausible chain of events for the mechanical shooters. I prefer the mechanical origin overall but it would have bogged down the film.

No worries. It was a joke from Sherlock.

IIRC Prodigy and Hornet were heroic identities. Spidey had to quit being Hornet after he slipped up and called the Vulture “Vulchy”. The Vulture’s response (in front of a large crowd and on live television IIRC) was

“The Hornet is Spider-Man! It’s Spidey in that suit! I’d know that smart alec attitude anywhere! And nobody else calls me Vulchy!! The Hornet is Spiderman!”

So it was understandable that he gave up being the Hornet.

Dusk (whose powers I don’t recall) and Ricochet (who used a super bouncy rubber Spidey invented as well as a lot of acrobatic stunts) were villains. While certain heroes (OTTOMH Marvel’s Shroud does it) can get behind the whole pretending to be a villain thing, it just wasn’t in Peter’s nature.

Re Spider Man 2099

I love this quote “At least I’m not perfectly replicating a spider. Then, I’d be shooting webs out my butt!”

And upon discovering he has claws

“Ahh, thank god. They automatically retract when I touch my skin. Otherwise going to the bathroom would be an adventure and picking my nose could be lethal.”

RE Cameron

I have a copy of his treatment around here somewhere. The wet dream and web as ejaculate fluid couldn’t be more obvious.

Ah!

I actually thought it was a How I Met Your Mother reference.

Today’s Hark! A Vagrant is semi-relevant (and all-adorable, as Kate Beaton’s comics tend to be).

“Is that even a thing spiders have?”

“ooh… a crevice” :stuck_out_tongue:

You are so going to Marvel Hell!

Couldn’t you also argue that the Venom/Spider-Man combo used organic? I don’t actually remember the mechanism, but do remember it being different than Spider-Man alone.

Regardless, the concept was definitely not original for the movie.

If Spidey really hates a villain, he goes and eats asparagus before webbing them up.
