Just following up on this case:
Ontario: New cruelty charges laid
August 1, 2001
TORONTO - Two men accused of torturing and killing a
cat face new charges after a court appearance
yesterday. Anthony Ryan Wennekers, 24, faces four
counts of animal cruelty, two counts of mischief under
$5,000, one count of theft and one count of killing
animals. Jesse Power, 21, who said the alleged actions
and their videotaping were a work of art, faces three
charges of animal cruelty, one count of mischief under
$5,000, one count of theft and one count of killing
animals.
Now, what are the potential consequences to these… persons …should the be convicted?
My understanding from articles and contacts in Ontario is that the maximum each man can receive for each animal cruelty offense is 6-months in jail and a 2-year ban on animal ownership (i.e. cannot own any animals for a period of 2 yrs) following conviction.

Well if they did skin a cat, you think they found more than one way to try it?

Naw. They only used one cat. You’d need to experiment with more to determine once and for all how many ways there are. It still stands at “more than one” and that includes ways that are nearly identical or are simply stupid and silly.
Okay, I’m in a sick frame of mind, too. And I love cats, though am now too allergic to keep any. AND I am sick of people who use “art” as an excuse for whatever their pet perversion happens to be. We’ve determined that it was not a hoax. We all hope that the perps are punished to the fulllest extent of the law. But, considering the bigger outrages that could outrage us, is this a tempest in a teapot?
