It’s established that Charlie has an interest in auto-erotic asphyxiation, being concerned about whether the shower in a Vegas hotel will support the weight of a grown man… seems a fairly natural way out for him. I don’t watch the show, but I like Kutcher and think it could work with good writing. ---

What’s ironic to me is the last time Ashton was involved with a show it was when he left it…it wasn’t quite the end of That 70’s Show, but it was definitely the beginning of the end. Now here he comes to save another show? Guess we’ll see how it goes. ---

I’m surprised he’s doing it, as he seems to star in a couple of movies each year. But I read that he’s being paid a million per episode (and that’s higher than most others would have gotten), so I guess twenty million a year was hard to turn down. (Supposedly, Charlie Sheen was paid two million per episode, so this is cheaper for them.) And perhaps he can still star in movies when the show is not in production. ---

I think they can find someone better. I’m not one of those who think the show will necessarily die without Charlie. The writers can still make the show work with the remaining cast and another actor that Alan (Jon Cryer) can work off of. ---

I can go into any theater in the United States and grab a replacement for Sheen and do better. The reverse cannot be said. The only reason Ashton Kutcher was picked is because they needed a name to draw people back in. He fell backwards into money because of his father and without writers he’s a one-man career demolition team. ---

I don’t get what’s so special about Sheen. Surely they could find someone else to act like a working drunk who delivers cheesy sarcastic one liners and put-downs just about anywhere. Ashton Kutcher will do as well as anyone else. I think they should focus more on the son though. ---

I think the show is pretty funny but I assume that’s the writing. I doubt they’ll have Kutcher play Charlie’s character so they’ll have to come up with some angle. Maybe Charlie’s character will be working in NYC indefinitely and his brother and Ashton’s character wind up living there. In a sit com Ashton will always be the dweeb he played on the 70s show, although there were similarities to Sheen’s character. I’ll watch it to see how they handle it.
