Just read the darn books. They aren’t that long and what I read Asimov for, like the others have mentioned, isn’t the characters. It is the fact that on almost every page the man throws a brilliant idea at you. I read his books and have to stop and say woah! a few times every chapter. The man was brilliant.

But, how would the story have made any sense at all **without** that “subplot”? What would it have been about? How would it have ended?
