Chiroptera, your original response was rude and unnecessary – doubling down on it very much more so.
Everyone else – leave the modding to the mods.
Robert Briggs, thanks for responding to this thread. As you can see, we have all kinds of folks here, but many of them are actually quite friendly and pleasant. I hope you’ll consider sticking around the SDMB.
No, the FAA changed the flight path to go over my house, due to near-misses by airline pilots. (And because this new pattern allows airlines to have lanes land & take off closer together, making their hub operations more profitable.)
Princhester, please message Robert Briggs and see if you can persuade him to return here. It’s unfortunate that a few inconsiderate remarks have dissuaded him from posting again. Please assure him that some of us do find his comments interesting and that contributions from new members are welcome by those of us who don’t try to make ourselves feel superior to others.
yah, that’s what the tower thinks when they let passenger planes in ahead of heavy lift. Believe me when I tell you there are many more customers involved in one airplane’s worth of freight then the equivalent passenger plane.
Pilot141, what the hell is FedEx still doing with 727’s? It has the same fuel burn as a 767. It’s like driving a tank in place of a taxi.
I agree with cochrane. I would be interested in hearing from someone with Robert’s experience–I’m not a pilot, and will never be one (learned that when a pilot friend handed me the controls of his Cessna once), but I would be interested in his contributions to the aviation threads that occasionally come up. The SDMB is, after all, fighting ignorance, and Robert sounds like he could help with that.
Princhester, please let Robert know that a few of us would like him to return.
