Ask the Canadian Teenager...

No! This will cause mass confusion, and panick! CT is the abreaviation for the state of Connecticut. Don’t you see that we can’t have one abreaviation with multiple meanings!

Avril Lavigne… you realize she’s a put-on, right?

I loathe Avril Lavigne, actually. Her music makes me want to punch a hole in someone’s torso. Around the time her debut came out, I would literally run away screaming when her name was mentioned by a friend.

And I don’t think Sum 41 are anything hugely special, although they do make harmless, fun pop.

Er… Ahem.

Eh, she’s okay. I listen to her music occassionally. Is that a crime?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, durr!

(no offense to my comrade dare_devil007 ;))

None taken. Back in seventh-grade, I used to really like Avril Lavigne. But, now, I find her very “blah.” Her music and videos are all the same. I call her music “feel-good” music because I think they’re upbeat and very kiddie-pop-punk.

Do you listen to Green Day?

I used to live and work there. Is there still a Sam The Record Man up the block from Yonge & Dundas? Or have they been put out of business by HMV? (I worked at Sam’s, and also A&A, which was right next door, but they merged with HMV.)

They’re not the greatest, but they’re fun. They don’t hold a candle to, say, McLusky.

About the Sam the Record Man - it’s still there. Mysteriously enough, the two gigantic flagship stores have managed to stay put, even though HMV has otherwise put Sam out of business. The two stores have their own devoted following (although I prefer Soundscapes and Rotate This).

This isn’t so much a question as it is a demand, you like Rush, right? RIGHT? Being Canadian you’d have to!

Hehe, unfortunately not. I accept that I’ll never be able to play bass faster or more precisely than Geddy Lee. But I much, much prefer Pavement’s simple two-guitar rambles and off-key vocals to Rush’s extremely skilled noodling. IMHO, of course.

emekthian, yes, I listen to Green Day. Billie Joe Armstrong’s kinda cute, too.

fishbicycle, Sam the Record Man is still there. At least, it was the last time I went to Yonge and Dundas about six months ago.

Not only Metis. There are pockets of Francophones all throughout the West, though they are largely ignored by the East. I attended Ecole Plamondon in Northern Alberta. It was NOT a Metis settlement. In fact, one of the predominant groups in central-Northern Alberta is French-speaking descendants of those who migrated from the East over a hundred years ago.
