That was Frank Miller, I believe.

I agree, even Superman and Batman seem to be opposites in nearly every aspect.

I am tryihng to remember the source where this memory comes from, but… pre-Crisis, the city breakdown went like this:

Gotham-NYC
Metropolis-Chicago
Star City-Seattle
Central City-St. Louis(Keystone City was the Eart 2 version)
Smallville-Somewhere in Kansas
Coast City-San Diego

Yup. Superman’s a summer while Batman is a winter.

Batman’s a top, while Superman’s a bottom.

We seem fated to disagree, m’friend.

Batman, control freak in his “business” life, clearl _wants_ to be the bottom in his personal life. Why do you think he has the hots for Catwoman and Poison Ivy, two women who’s stchick is tying people up?

Superman is neither. I don’t see him getting into the role-playing/ bdsm thing at all but if he did, he’d be a top all the way.

Y’know, this may not be the SDMB’s shining moment. 😉

Besides, if he were a bottom, Supes would wind up launching the poor partner like one of those water pressure rockets.

It’s not a role playing thing, which is a common misconception outside the gay community.

See… the top is not the one in control. The bottom really has the power.

I knew role playing was the wrong phrase, but I couldn’t think of a better term. “Sex games” doesn’t sound right either. Help?

Which, if that’s the case, it makes even more sense for Batman to be the bottom, right?

And off topic, but what the hell, I keep hearing this, but if I’ve (hypothetically) got you (hypothetically) tied up, gagged and am about to (hypothetically) apply electrodes to sensitive areas and am getting the white-hot nipple-pinchers out of the fire(hypothetically, of course), how, exactly are you (hypothetically) in control? 😕

…to finish that (hypothetical) thought…I understand the “The bottom sets the limits” thing, but given that you (hypothetically) have to trust ME (hypothetically) to respect your (hypothetical) limits, ultimately, I’m (hypothetically) in control?

Does being a vampire count as super powers? Elsewords: Batman vs. Dracula (I think that’s the name.)

What about a healing factor and andamantium skeleton? Amalgam’s Dark Claw Adventures. 🙂

But in continuity, I don’t know.

Wasn’t Batman always getting Superman’s powers in those old _World’s Finest_ comics from the 50s and 60s? Then they’d just switch costumes or something to confuse the villain until the change wore off.

Because after the scene’s done, the hypothetical Bottom who had their limits violated will pick up their ball and go home, never to play with that particular Top ever again. And then tell everyone else in the BDSM community that that Top runs in that s/he does not respect limits. Net result: ostricization from the community.

\*\*Mockingbird[/] I can’t recall the publisher-but The Holo Brothers includes an android raven with a Mexican accent. The raven’s name is Tequilla Mockingbird
Re-Supersenses
I remember a panel or two in Crisis that touched on this. Supes of Earth 1 and Earth 2 were talkin. One said that he wished he could shut off his suerhearing so that he didn’t have to hear all the screams.

Has there ever been a serious effort, usng a mainstream character, to show the downside of heightened senses?

-Everybody and everything would stink. Lois Lane would be handsoap, perfume, shampoo, hairspray, fabric softener, old shoes etc
Supes would be able to detect nuances in the smells of meals that nobody else could. He would also be able to smell the urinals from any table in the restaurant

-Everybody would have a horrible complexion. Supes could see every pore, every pimple, every minor blemish
All movies would be grainy.
Supes would easily see the flashing of tv’s and pc screens that the human eye is to slow to notice.

-Supes would hear the footsteps of individal ants and roaches. Plus everthing in the apartment building-all the talking, snoring, belching etc.
Plus all the internal sound of people-besides heartbeats and breathing, tendons cracking and popping, and a whole symphony from the digestive system

Once villains figure out Daredevil’s senses are heightened, they inevitably will disable him with sonics of some sort. Don’t have an issue number, but I know I’ve seen it multiple times.

I also figure that wearing clothes would be nearly unbareable for DD since his hypertouch would allow him to feel every fiber and stitch in his outfit. Talk about itchy.

Superman’s sensory powers have been described as selective. He’s trained himself to _not_ listen to everything, for example.

Man-Thing: cheap, underdeveloped ripoff of DC’s Swamp Thing? Or is Swamp Thing a classy, well-developed ripoff of Marvel’s poorly used Man-Thing? I don’t remember much about Man-Thing’s origins – except that they seemed awfully familiar, involving explosions, experimental chemicals, death and swamp processes.

And what’s with burning the fearful with his touch? Who hasn’t feared a shambling, glassy-eyed mound of moss, especially once it got its hands on them?

Sentient or not?
