The rising cost of academic journals and the effect on library budgets? Whether librarians should have the title if they don’t have the Masters degree? Whether ALA membership is worth it? Actually, microfilm is still the best - because they know exactly how long it will last - at least 100 years (and then they can make another copy). They don’t know that about CDROM. Remember 5 1/2 discs? There’re tons of stories out there about transfering records to The Newest Medium only to find 20 years later that you can’t read it. I just heard an archivist tell a story about some census records that were transferred some particular medium (don’t remember which one). Not so many years into the future, they needed that information and found that there were only two machines left in the world that could read the data -one in Japan and one on display at the Smithsonian… Cricket ---
