# Ask the guy who just ate some hakarl

My theory is, you have to be both starving _and_ drunk to eat hakarl. 🙂

From the entries, I gather that rotten shark is truly awful.  
So why does anybody eat it?  
Plus, wouldn’t health laws prohibit serving something this awful in a public setting?  
Just the thought of this makes me sick.
