Things seem to be working out. I have received, signed and return the revised mortgage documents, and they stuck to the terms their letter from February said they would. Just today I had my first actual conversation about my account with a CitiMortgage rep, who gave me a specific monthly dollar amount to pay (besides the mortgage, I am obliged to escrow y property taxes with them).
Better yet, there is no payment due for June, so I got an extra thousand bucks lying about. Plus, my monthly mortgage payment is $200 less than I had budgeted for at the start of this mess. Since I’ve been without a working TV for 2 years now and without cable service for more than that, I’m feeling a shopping fever come upon me!
No they didn’t have the note to start with, but they didn’t buy it either. Actually they bought the whole company that owned the original note. I did have a lawyer look at the papers they filed to support their suit, and he told me they weren’t vulnerable on that issue.
Just keep on keeping photocopies of EVERYTHING, and anything you mail to them, mail by certified mail. If you make payments on-line, be sure to keep any electronic documentation, even if it’s just screen shots.
That’s good to hear - it means that you won’t be facing some OTHER company coming forward and saying THEY own your loan and please vacate the house right now, after you’ve been paying Shitibank all this time.
