Ask the Guy Who Stared at Bill Walton's Back for Three Hours

And why would he tease me about Bill Walton? Because he knows that I CANNOT stand Mr. Walton. That’s right, he sets my teeth on edge even. And this goes back nearly to his playing days in college. And you know…his son looks almost exactly like him (D’oh!).

At any rate, I’d never heard that he was a Deadhead, so fancy that! Just as long as he didn’t do any basketball commentating (!) at the concert venue, I guess I could have stood being behind or beside him. Maybe. He didn’t talk about b-ball, did he?!

Was Bill smoking up?

Hah! I’ve got you beat - I once sat 3 rows behind Bill Walton, in economy class no less, for 6 hours on a flight from Boston to San Diego (his home), at the end of a season with the Celtics. He was dressed normally and nobody bothered him, so there’s nothing to say, really. Well, I did hear somebody ask him to recommend a good motorcycle shop in SD, though.

Did Bill tell anyone to “Throw it down, big man, throw it down!”?

You know, I’m only 6’2", and I have a hard time staying (some semblence of) comfortable on a cross country flight. Six hours in coach must have been torture for someone as tall as he is.

He did have the entire center row of a 767 to himself. He sat kind of sideways.

I’m assuming I would have seen it if he did, so I’ll say no.

I thought I heard him say something about Oteil Burbridge being a force in the low post.
