> At the end of said film, James Bond gets married to the Bond Girl of the film, Tracy (played by Diana Rigg). Soon after their wedding, Blofeld kills her. Bond appears to care for Tracy still. In one film, he refuses to catch the bouquet at a wedding, and another opens with him leaving flowers on Tracy’s grave (although the majority of that sequence involves Bond getting rid of a man who is obviously meant to be Blofeld as a “fuck you” to Kevin McClory). Why is it, then, that this mourning spouse still sleeps around with different women?

But he never _loves_ another woman. I mean, after you’ve had Diana Rigg, how could any other woman match up?

Hey now! _For Your Eyes Only_ had the most stunts per minute of running time of any Bond film up to that date, and it borrowed source material from some of the better Fleming short stories. Excepting the horrible disco-themed music soundtrack, it was the best of the Moore Bonds (kicking the hitman’s car off the cliff after flicking the dove pin at him was pure vicious-killer Fleming Bond), and a welcome reprise from the depths that the franchise sunk to with _Moonraker_. “Detente…you don’t have it, I don’t have it.”

No, **mobo85** …I expect you to type.

> Lazenby’s single entry, _On Her Majesty’s Secret Service_, was an attempt to do something different with a Bond film; it was esssentially a tragic love story wrapped around a generic Bond plot. It was probably Fleming’s best novel and was in many ways the best Bond film, more akin to something that Hitchcock would have directed than a typical spy action film.

I agree. Lazenby gave a decent performance, the star-crossed lovers plot worked well, and Diana Rigg was hotter than a blowtorch. Lazenby has become a punchline for many jokes, but I too think he might have grown into the role and might have prevented the Roger Moore train wrecks that followed. Lazenby was far more believable than Moore ever was.

I had lunch with Jill St. John (and several others) about 2 years ago. Still hot (in her sixties) and thinner than a rail.

> So that’s your explanation for Bond being played by several different actors over forty years, and not rotting away from VD?

Yep, my explanation being supported by “Casino Royale” 😃 I figure it’s an alias used to confuse counterintelligence agencies “That’s not really James Bond, is it? Didn’t we kill him with that exploding redhead?” 😃
