I graduated on Saturday, and went to high school for the last time as plausibly a student yesterday. I’m going to Virginia Tech in the fall as a math and CS double major. (I just thought this would be a somewhat witty way to celebrate on the Dope, you’re not obliged to ask me anything.) ---

Congratulations! I just got back from my daughter’s graduation…from 4th grade. The way our particular schools are set up she will graduate from 6th grade, 8th grade, high school and college, at least. That’s a lotta _Pomp and Circumstance_. ---

I have a question or two. Did you take end of grade exams and do you feel they are necessary? Do you have a long term goal? It could be financial, educational, or something different. I’ve liked math and computer science since I was a freshman, and I figured that they’d be good majors. The problem is that I’m not changing majors; that is, I’m not transferring out of the College of Engineering into the College of Science. I’m adding a major, which is different. ---

This is THE time in your life to get laid, bar none. Just as many girls go to college with a secondary goal of sowing their wild oats as guys do. Take advantage, man. It won’t be nearly as easy again. Plus they tend to get uglier and fatter as they get older, if that’s a major concern for you. ---

All the parties in high school were heavy boozers and I figured college would be more of the same with Animal House style crap thrown in. Took me exactly a semester to start pledging a professional music fraternity and go to some decent social gatherings not centered on a keg. Of course, after a year of that I was going to the keggers too. You’d be amazed at how much action the sober bouncer-type gets during the following week from sober chicks who remember you were keeping things safe when they were drunk. 😉 ---
