# Ask the Medical Student!

Spooje:  
Insulin doses vary widely depending on the person and how much if any insulin his/her body produces. A rough estimate to start is 0.6 units/kilogram, less for a very active person.  
Saxface:  
Dark earwax usually has been sitting in your ear awhile. When it dries out it gets darker.  
DrJ:  
If you want to do well in your medicine rotation remember that all internists think of themselves as detectives. Have a complete differential available but remember the following “uncommon presentations of common diseases occur more often than uncommon diseases.”  
Also-the 36 hour shift is still alive and well. I have been in practice 7 years and I still pull “all-nighters” several times a year.
