Hee hee. An interesting set of coincidences, involving; a fork lift truck, a pencil, a t.v. remote control and a USB cable. His fish, which died the very same day, was immediatly burried underneath the bushes to help enrich the soil. There was no time for a post mortum. (Not a clue how to spell that, and dictionary.coms no help) ---

Hey **missBHaven** … i suppose it would be too much to hope that that is your real name? And what’ll happen if you get married? MrsBHaven isn’t nearly as good! (assuming you keep your name, that is) Well, shes my girlfriend of three months. It’s the first ‘serious’ relationship for both of us. And as for where I lost it (im assuming you mean my virginity, not the 50p from this morning), it was in a hotel room. Both of our parents know of our relationship (vaugely - I think my mother especially has problems envisioning me doing more than hold hands with Julia, she treats me as a mature adult in most other areas, just not regards girls!). Her (my girlfriend, not my mum!) and I were touring some of the universities in the UK, as we’re applying to them at the start of next year. We went to one of the London unis on the first day, then took the train up to Leed’s Uni for the second, then on to sheffield for the third. Our parents thought we were going in a large group (six or seven)with other friends, and the boys would be in one hotel room and the girls in another. It wasn’t - just us two. We stayed in two fairly large B&B’s, in two different towns. I think we both knew it was going to happen, but we never discussed it. We both just knew. I’m very happy about the way it turned out - we took it slowly and both really, really, really enjoyed it. Enough to repeat…well… repeatedly! I don’t think I could forget about it. She rocked my world. When i’m a lonely old man, sitting on my own in a comfy chair in an old folks home somewhere, i’ll be smiling. Because thats moment i’ll be remembering. And no, my mother doesn’t know. I think nearly everyone who knows me knows, but thats because they knew we were alone together for two nights, and they arn’t stupid. I don’t think i’ve ‘bragged’ about it though. ---

I plan to provide another few fish with a slow and undignified death in the near future. So tell us the story about your brother’s fist. The more outrageous and gruesome, the better. I found the SDMB a long time ago, and bookmarked it. I was doing a google search for something or other, and it directed me here. I have nearly one hundred bookmarks, and only look through them all every few months. I probably had the SDMB link in my bookmarks for about a year when I clicked on it again, around two months ago. I’ve been lurking since then, and the rest is history! (well, current affairs.). No, no one that I know of in RL comes here, otherwise I wouldn’t have mentioned things like the story of how I lost my virginity etc. I really, really cannot think of how My Brother Lost His Fist. Anyone who can, please - feel free to type a short story. Lets keep the nudity to a minimum, he is only 11! ---

No, just my brother. I’ve never “travelled”, although a year out after I finish college would be nice. I’ve been to quite a few different countries on holiday; Spain, the USA, Holland, France, Cypress, Turkey, Greece all come to mind. We generally go overseas once a year. ---

You must have a clever school 🙂 All schools are different - they timetable how many GCSE’s you do. My 10th was done outside of school. ---

What have your thoughts been on the new AS level system? Im in the break between my first and second year of uni, and I actually found the system worked to my advantage overall but I think that’s cos I did all humanities, my sciencey friends found it somewhat harsh. No clue on the course front huh? Try what I did, get one of those prospectuses with a bit about each course offered and read them all and see what takes your fancy, I btw ended up studying Philosophy BA. Also as uni is the place for experimentation how do you feel you will cope with the world of new possibilities and choices that will be open to you? friendly regards ---

I’m doing a mixture of humanities and sciences, and theres times I think i’ve chosen the worst of both worlds, with coursework and exams all at the same time, due to the modular system. I don’t think its _too_ bad overall, that we do modular exams makes revision much easier than revising two years work, I’m sure. I’m quite interested in PPP at Oxford, hoping to specialise in Philosophy and Psychology. Unfortunatly, as I said, my ‘fancy’ is mostly taken by science subjects, so thats no good. I’ve got a short list of ten or so courses I’m looking at in more detail, so with any luck I’ll be OK. I can’t wait to move out. I love my parents and all - it’s just that I want to get away and start to live my own life. Thats why I wont be applying to one of the (rather good) local Uni’s - I want quite a large degree of freedom from my 'rents. I think i’ll cope well. I’m fairly level headed, and I’m quite good with money. I should be ok from that aspect. I must admit im worried about ‘fitting in’ - i’m quite a social person who isn’t much good at making friends. I’m hoping it wont be so bad, I have enough interests that I should meet like-minded people. I’m not \* entirely\* sure what “new possibilities and choices” means, but I hope to cope with them.
