OK. Sure. Whatever you say.
If he were bragging, why would he treat it like he won the lottery, instead of making a big deal out of how successful his family is?
Anyways, my question is always the same: how do you plan on helping society with your money? As far as I’m concerned, having money is useless at best if you don’t use at least part of it to help the less fortunate.
I think you should become the patron of a budding new artist…
Well, first, congratulations. Secondly, while it seems you’re not going to quit your job, have you thought about going on vacation around the world, seeing the sights? Africa or Europe?
Thirdly, of ‘things you want’, there are things that you don’t need right now, but… when you replace them, what are you going to get, the ‘just what you need’ equivalent, or the ‘really darn nice’ version? Eg, your next car, your next desk chair, and so on?
Would you consider buying the SDMB and getting rid of the adverts?
You had a colonoscopy with no anesthetic, right, so you could drive home?
Where was the chauffeur?
Congratulations on your good fortune!
Natural gas prices in the toilet now?
If that inheritance tax starts it’s game over. 50-some %

Hey, I have brown eyes too! Unfortunately, I can guarantee you backtalk. And insolence. Lots of insolence.

insolence and … discipline? Tell me you dispense lots and lots of discipline too! “BAD American…!” *whip crack *
Shaggy, give me money. $30k would be about right. I have ocean blue eyes and I’m a dude, but I still want the money and probably won’t be paying it back. At least I’m honest.
Seriously though, seems like tricky footing to have a financial future set in fossil fuels. If it were me I’d invest the profits in something more permanent, more real estate maybe. Personally, I’d throw myself into a couple hobbies I never seem to have time for (cuz I gotta go to work all the time) and casually see if I can make money doing something I like.

I don’t know yet. I am not being flip when I say that I think charity begins at home. By that I mean, it is better to make sure that my daughters and I have the basics taken care of term before deciding what else to do and they need college funds and some things like that and that isn’t set up yet. The reason I say that is that I think it is better to think about it and not just hand a bunch of money over to the local midget jugglers guild when it may be better to wait and set up a self-sustaining scholarship fund that can last indefinitely. I could invest it myself for a while so that it gets bigger before doing anything with a substantial amount. My choice probably will be something targeted towards a specific group like college scholarships rather than to something that already has a lot of money like breast cancer research or a popular museum.

I can’t control where the money originally comes from. Those deals were done a long time again and locked in stone but the wells are already being drilled and started paying so the money doesn’t have to stay in natural gas after they pay. I do need a financial planner to take it and put it other places so that it doesn’t matter if they shut down the wells next year or the entire market crashes. Natural gas is a pretty good fuel though especially the onshore kind. It is clean and it is there in large amounts which makes it an attractive alternative to other fossil fuels.

Sad isn’t it? You can pay someone to drive you home from a colonoscopy but you can’t pay a stranger to really know you and that is also part of the rule as well. It is a common theme throughout history.
I love driving more than anything as well. There will be no chauffeurs. I could play Smokey and the Bandit and become a long-haul truck driver. If I had my own rig, I could advertise low rates for things that you don’t really care exactly when they get there.

Ah. This is where Inigo remembers that he loves to drive as well. I’ve long thought that if I had the means I’d build a road track to rival Laguna Seca. And I’d spend an inordinate amount of time on it in a variety of reasonably priced go-karts: MR2, Elise, SRT4, etc.
Is it true that you’re giving away bicycles to girls with brown eyes?

Is it true that you’re giving away bicycles to girls with brown eyes?
Yes, absolutely true but read carefully. I specified some other requirements as well that seem simple but are almost impossible to find in real life.
I can pretend to be agreeable for long enough to get a bicycle. How long do I have to pretend to be nice for a car?
You could buy an RV and publish Shagnasty’s Traveling Blog. Trying to make your website pay could be a challenge.
Have you seen the movie, Haynesville, yet? If you have, I’m curious what you think of it.
Congratulations on your good fortune. May it help you achieve many of your dreams that its lack would have caused them to be unfulfilled.
Do you need a personal chef?

No, I had never even heard of it until now. It sounds like it is based on my hometown area though because it is being shown around there. I will find a way to see it. Cool. Thanks for that.
