I thought you accepted him a the real McCoy
(with which I take issue, because his name isn’t Leonard)
Oh wise and all knowing one
Will I get this task finished and alleviate everyone’s concerns?
One.
Lord Ashtar,
Do you believe that you have inborn talents that most people do not? If so, how did come to this conclusion?
Since you do not seek to profit from your gifts, what do you do with them? Also, as has been asked, why not try to collect Randi’s $1M and donate it some charity?
Are your psychic predictions ever wrong? If so, how do you differentiate between being psychic and taking guesses, or having a hunch?
Are there any well known psychics that you believe to be real (or fake)? How do you determine which ones are legitimate?
What are your religious beliefs?
Thanks is advance.
As you might have surmised, many people here do not believe in psychics. That being said, there’s a lot of folks here that believe diametrically different things and yet this place “works.” The down side is that, for me anyway, look at folks like you as crooks at worst, and foolish at best. That being said, I would like to see how you answer the serious questions.
About the Randi prize. There is no stipulation how you spend the money and most certainly, contributing it to the charity of your choice would be “using your powers for good.” Even Robin Hood was credited for stealing from the rich to give to the poor. I am hard pressed to see how it could be a bad thing, under any light. Who cares if they believe you or not? Are you familiar with the terms of the test? It is a mutually agreed upon test. It isn’t like they toss you in water and if you drown you are a psychic. You, by definition, have to agree to the stipulations of the test, before the test and those are not to be changed by either party. Preliminary tests are done as near you as possible.
I don’t want to sound well, anything really. But you must know the reasons you stated for not testing your powers have been used by charlatans for ages.
It isn’t that I don’t believe you are psychic, I just have never found any credible evidence that they exist. I am really curious how someone who thinks they are psychic, wraps their head around being one.
- Are you generally a new agey type of person?
- Have you ever done a blind test on yourself, with a control?
- Did you grow up in a “typical” home?
- Was your family catholic?
- Does your family know you are psychics?
- Are any relatives psychic also?
- Are you familiar with cold reading techniques?
- Do you consider yourself a critical thinker?
- What is your impression of John Edwards?
The questions are kind of piling up here, Ashtar. Here’s another–Do you have any intention of responding in a reasonable, non flippant manner, or are you just having a bit of fun?
m’Lord Ashtar, allow me to give you the answer you seek.
You are alone today, not lonely, exactly, but restless.
You do believe yourself to be gifted with longsight, but you play it as a joke. In your heart of hearts you know yourself to be a charlatan. When you tell your followers (those who think themselves your friends, but are little more than pets) this, they never believe. Their disbelief fuels your own secret faith in your true superiority.
By the way, that thing you thought was lost, is under the bed, way up by the headboard.
[sub](I truly am a charlatan, so any resemblance to fact is merely coincidence)[/sub]
I think you’ve missed the point.
He never said he’d respond in any way - so technically he’s way ahead of the game!
<my first duck and run!>
A pop quiz? +(or don’t they give those anymore?)-
You met a beautiful foreign student and had the most important conversation of your poor geeky life.
I’m no psychic, but I beg to differ.
The answer is…
5,853.
Yes, I did it once. I was VERY bored that day…
OKay, If I let my bestfriend move into the apartment in my backyard will it work out?
Will I be able to afford the renovations?
What color are my underwear?
Your underwear are prints. They are classy and cute. Some kind of design.

nope, classy? um not really but no print. way off
Damn, I tried. I tried to get into your pants, but you are blocking me. Are your eyes green?

Damn, I tried. I tried to get into your pants, but you are blocking me. Are your eyes green?
Yes, they are. Very good grasshopper.
Go ahead, ask me anything.
Lord Ashtar, you have titled this thread ‘Ask the Psychic’. Before we can go ahead and respond to this suggestion, we have to establish that you are, in fact, psychic. If you’re not, then your offer / suggestion is bogus, and this thread is a total waste of time. So, my questions to you are:
(1) For what reason should anyone consider that you possess genuine psychic faculties? Putting it another way, what evidence would you offer to support the contention that you have psychic abilities or gifts?
(2) Are you able and qualified to answer questions in a way that constitutes more than just jokes, evasive manoevres, guesswork or cold reading? If so, please explain the underlying mechanism by which you receive the information contained in your answers.
I started a few answers yesterday, got cut off by the maintenance, and wasn’t able to get back to a computer for the rest of the day. Looks like I have some catching up to do.

One.
:smack:
Do you believe that you have inborn talents that most people do not? If so, how did come to this conclusion?
I believe that everyone has some psychic abilities. They may not have discovered them yet, but with practice I believe anyone can learn to harness them. How would they go about doing this? I’ve always had some, but they didn’t start to really develop until I took a meditation class and got more in touch with myself.
Since you do not seek to profit from your gifts, what do you do with them? Also, as has been asked, why not try to collect Randi’s $1M and donate it some charity?
I’m still in the beginning phases of learning to harness my abilites, so I don’t really “do anything” with them. I doubt that Randi would be impressed with what I can do.
Are your psychic predictions ever wrong? If so, how do you differentiate between being psychic and taking guesses, or having a hunch?
[Morpheus]
Try not to think of it in terms of right or wrong.
[/Morpheus]
Seriously though, I don’t make predictions about the future. It is my belief that anyone who claims to know the future is probably a con artist.
Are there any well known psychics that you believe to be real (or fake)? How do you determine which ones are legitimate?
John Edward and Miss Cleo jump right out as being completely full of shit. As for how I would know whether or not they are legitimate, I guess you could say I would just trust my intuition.
What are your religious beliefs?
Thanks is advance.

What are your religious beliefs?
Sorry, missed this one. When I’m filling out questionaires and they ask what religion I am, I generally check the Christian - Other box. I no longer subscribe to any particular denomination, since I feel that most churches are too hung up on the minor details (such as gay marriage and whether or not women can become priests) to really minister to me.

As you might have surmised, many people here do not believe in psychics.
Yeah, I knew what I was getting into when I started this thread.
That being said, there’s a lot of folks here that believe diametrically different things and yet this place “works.” The down side is that, for me anyway, look at folks like you as crooks at worst, and foolish at best. That being said, I would like to see how you answer the serious questions.
I’ll do my best.
About the Randi prize. I’m going to answer this, and then I’m going to ignore any further questions about Randi and his prize, because quite frankly I can only answer it so many times. I’m still fairly new at developing my abilities and don’t think that Randi would be all that impressed with what I can do.
I don’t want to sound well, anything really. But you must know the reasons you stated for not testing your powers have been used by charlatans for ages.
Agreed, but con artists will use anything they can to dupe people out of money.
It isn’t that I don’t believe you are psychic, I just have never found any credible evidence that they exist. I am really curious how someone who thinks they are psychic, wraps their head around being one.
When I was first taking a course on meditation and learning what I could do, one of the exercises I did was called a distance reading. I paired up with someone I didn’t know, they thought of another person I’d never met, and I described them.
Not only was I able to describe this person’s favorite type of music, but I described their manner of dress and even was able to talk about his favorite cowboy hat. I also got that this person had dropped out of high school in the 11th grade. She said I was spot on.
I have to tell you, when that happens, you kind of get a little freaked out.
- Are you generally a new agey type of person?
I’m probably more “new agey” than most. I meditate regularly and I cleanse my space of negative energy once and a while, but some of it just seems like bunk to me. For example, I think crystals are cool and all, but I don’t believe they have their own consciousness like some do.
- Have you ever done a blind test on yourself, with a control?
I haven’t, but would be interested in doing this for myself. Would anyone like to suggest an experiment that I can do?
- Did you grow up in a “typical” home?
I’m not going to get too deep into this one, but my parents did divorce when I was 9, and my mom’s next husband was very abusive. So yeah, I guess you could say I had a typical late 20th century American childhood.
- Was your family catholic?
I was raised Episcopalian, or Catholic Lite.
- Does your family know you are psychics?
My dad’s sister is psychic, and there’s quite a bit of it on my mom’s side. One of my brothers is also learning to develop his abilities, but the other brother couldn’t care less about it.
- Are any relatives psychic also?
See #5.
- Are you familiar with cold reading techniques?
I am, but I don’t use any.
- Do you consider yourself a critical thinker?
I do, which is why it really blew my mind to discover some of the things I could do, since rationally they don’t exist.
- What is your impression of John Edwards?
Con artist.

What is it about you that convinces you that you are psychic? Specifically, what abilities do you have?
Sorry, this one also slipped by. See my reply to AuntBeast about the distance reading I’ve done. I’ve done a few other exercises similar to that, such as reading another person’s chakras and telling them things about themselves that I didn’t know (and a few things that they didn’t know, either). Since I’m still rather new to this, I can’t exactly give you a definitive list of what I can do yet.
devilsknew, are you the self-proclaimed psychic? Furthermore, are we in the Pit? If you wish to insult me based on nothing but your own fantasies, Pit me.
I’m still in the beginning phases of learning to harness my abilites, so I don’t really “do anything” with them. I doubt that Randi would be impressed with what I can do.
I thought you weren’t going to do it because you didn’t need the money? Well, at least you’re being honest.
