# Ass Gasket for real

I didn’t want to hijack and derail the current BBQ Pit thread with “assgasket” in the title … ( [Because Some Assgaskets Will Get Pissed If I Bump the Thread (Update on 20 year old murder thread)](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/because-some-assgaskets-will-get-pissed-if-i-bump-the-thread-update-on-20-year-old-murder-thread/1023813) ) … so I started this new one.

I decided to look up “ass gasket” to see how many places defined it as the paper toilet seat liner, and stumbled across an actual non-toilet article that they decided to use the name for:

It’s something you can strap onto your butt (so you don’t have to take off your ski boots or anything) on top of your underwear/long johns but under your outerwear/ski pants. It’s intended to keep your butt dry in the snow.

I’m not shilling for them, or anything. I’m just amazed. Clever marketing.

I thought you meant those paper toilet seat covers like you occasionally see in public restrooms.

That’s what they started looking for, then they stumbled upon the ski gear.

I’m sure Sir Tim Berners-Lee was totally thinking of this sort of search application when he came up with the WWW concept. 🤪

(And may I say I hope “assgasket” becomes incorporated into Dope general usage.)

As a skier, I would seriously consider getting this. I hate getting my butt wet on ski lift chairs.
