I bet if you polled every adult who shaves their pubes on this board, none of them do it to look prepubescent. ---

It makes about as much sense to me as claiming adult men shave their faces in order to look like little boys. Or women. Ridiculous! ---

The fact is that shaved adult genitalia look different than hairless prepubescent genitalia. You can have your preference for hairiness, but basing it on the idea that shaving is to look like a little girl/boy is ignorant. We’re about fighting that. ---

I started shaving off my armpit hair as soon as it came in. I didn’t start experimenting with my pubic hair until much later, I think 22… Shaving it off is uncomfortable, but trimming it with scissors or clippers is my preference, and works best for me. I have never been waxed. ---

When I have the clippers out to shave my head, I give the pubes a trim as well. Something I’ve only started going regularly within the last year or two. (I’m 36). I didn’t really need to start shaving the face more than once a week or so until I was in my mid 20’s. I have shaved bald my nethers before, and while I like the feel of it, hair growing back is itchy as heck. And since my SO doesn’t like it, I won’t be doing it again. ---

Can I just add that I find the terms “manscaping” and especially “shescaping” to be idiotic? ---

Experimented with it when I was in my mid 20s, then decided to make it a habit maybe 5 years ago (I’m 41) when I started getting into long distance running. IME my pubic and/or thigh hair tends to get yanked out when I’m running for many hours and it’s extremely painful. Keeping it really short/bare and using skin lubricants keeps things very comfortable. From a sexual standpoint it’s much more sensitive which is nice. ---

I find that when I have long pubic hair it can get yanked out just from walking. Yet another reason to shave it off. ---

I started shescaping at 20 once I lost my virginity and the guy gently suggested that I shave because “you’ll feel cleaner.” I slowly got around to it and I can’t believe I had a full bush up until that point. It feels much better and is less messy at menstruation time. These days I shave just about the whole area but leave a little bit near the front. ---
