The computer speed does not make much difference to most home users because they think that is what is slowing them down, when it is actually the size of the pipe and the servers they are trying to access.
SDMB is a case in point. Give the all the world a T-1 pipe or faster and the SDMB a server that can handle the load and there would be a lot less fussing by the masses.
If you are on dial-up, your screwed. If the site has a slow processor, you are screwed. And these are the main choke points for the average Joe and Jane.
I always want to go faster but since I don’t play games and can not get a bigger pipe at any cost that I can afford, $100 per month or less, I’m stuck on my DSL and the computer does not really matter.
