…Shouldn’t he be living in a bubble?
I’m not following you, can you clarify or rephrase?
The “subjective” is part of the objective. Same reason why people have a right to their opinions but aren’t entitled to them. Some clarification.
That apparently got somewhere.
“Oh by Bjirlorn, it’s a human! Don’t let it see you naked, you know what they are like.”
I don’t believe in designated drivers.
Where can I get some deep-fried theists?
I don’t believe I’m giving your car keys back, then.
Fresh Friars?
Or the Inquisition’s All You Can Eat Heretic BBQ. All the long pig you can eat, and their sauce is sinfully* delicious!
*But don’t tell them, or they’ll kill you
When I was a (really terrible) Catholic, I thought the afterlife meant that it would all work out in the end and even if terrible things happened, well, that was just this life and victims would be rewarded and bad guys would get what they had coming to them.
Now I think that life is utterly unfair and unkind and it’s up to each of us to improve the world for the people living in it, because it’s all we have. Instead of “let go and let God” it’s “let’s go and let’s try.”
I believe no religious system has produced evidence in support of it that is better than the evidence in support of other contradictory religious systems.
I believe it’s possible to have a working moral system that doesn’t require supernatural elements to support it.
I believe in old dogs, children and watermelon wine.
I believe in Buddhism.
I believe in Science.
I believe I’ll join Kayaker and Procrustus for a drink.
I believe…
[ul]I have approximately 40 more productive years left
[li]my wife, who I don’t deserve, is the best thing to ever have happened to me[/li][li]having children would have made me a more well-rounded person[/li][li]everyone should have the right to live, with no conditions, in whatever country they damned well please[/li][li]I’m a good person, but not good enough[/li][li]it breaks my mom’s heart that I reject her faith, and it breaks my heart that I can’t accommodate her, or even fake it[/li][li]theistic belief systems promote ignorance and impede humanity’s progress[/li][li]atheists, generally, are more moral than theists[/li][li]the Flat Earth Society is pulling our collective legs[/li][li]America’s current wounds with Iran are, when it comes down to it, self-inflicted[/li][li]North Korean society is headed toward an inexorable implosion that will cascade through its citizenry to its government within the next 10 years[/li][li]sadly, there will probably be no manned missions to other planets in my lifetime[/li][li]any newspaper companies and publishing houses that survive this decade will have abandoned print as a component of their business models[/li][li]Apple has had a surprising number of screw-ups in the last 12 months[/li][li]The Straight Dope vBulletin system is fine just the way it is[/li][/ul]
I believe that if everybody was nice and considerate towards each other the world would be a better, but possibly boring, place.
But I also believe that humans are inherently fuck-ups, so that will never happen. In fact I believe we will be the authors of our own destruction.
I believe that there isn’t one redeeming factor in Religion to make it worth existing. Any potential positive aspect of it can easily be trumped by a non-religious equivalent that is morally, logically, and practically superior.
I believe that Climate Change is happening, but an awful lot of it (some from Climate Scientists themselves) is unsubstantiated doomsaying that is hindering rather than helping.
I believe Honesty is the Best Policy in all situations, even though I do not practice that in all situations.
Reported ten year old posting.
?? I don’t get it.
(ten years ago, you may have had a good 40 left … now …???)
Something along those lines, I’m supposing.
Though utterly unfair and unkind is quite the imaginary hole to fill up.
