# Atlanta Dopefest

Nothing fancy, just supper and drinks. I’m thinking next Thursday or Friday (April 26th or 27th) in Midtown, either at the Highlander or maybe Gordon Biersch brewery.
Shout outs to **spoke-** , **mouthbreather** , **Lsura** , **TubaDiva** , **Mullinator** [sub](yeah, right)[/sub] and anyone else in the Atlanta area.
Past attempts at Atlanta-area Dopefests could be charitably described as “lame.” But let’s do this one, all right?

**Fiver**. I’d love to come out to Atlanta and party with you guys, of course, this will probably chase anyone else that was interested off… 'cause really, who would want to hang out with a geek like me? 😉
Rest easy tho’. I couldn’t be there that weekend, because I’m going to Boston to see my sweetie. 😃 [sub]Can’t resist… sorry.[/sub] And no offense, but I’d much rather see her. 🙂

Ok, either day is ok for me, though Friday is the better day.
I _swear_ that I’ll make it this time. There are no work trips planned for next week, so I’m supposed to be in town.
Ok, as I’ve said, I’ve lived here before, but have no real clue where anything is, so directions are a must for me. The ideal scenario would include Marta directions, but if that’s not possible, I can brave rush hour traffic. _sigh_ 😉

Okay then, let’s go for Friday, April 27th at 7 p.m. at the Highlander in Midtown. Sorry about those who can’t make it, but we can’t please everyone every time and there will be others of course.
We can even declare a _purpose_ for this DopeFest, and that is welcoming **oldscratch** to town. Thanks for tha handoff, **Rasa** ; we’ll take good care of him.

Which I share with the rest of you only for purposes of bumping this thread, so every Atlanta Doper gets a chance to learn about the gathering.

shesh , could you give a little more notice next time?
I’m generally a lurker and have never done a dopefest so would be curious. umm, what’s the usual procedure here? Do you folks introduce yourselves on the board or just show up at a dopefest and have that awkward “My name’s blabber and I’m a dope addict.” intro?
Btw, my wife _is_ a recovering alkie so a brewery probably isn’t the best environment…“Hey honey, how about we stop in at the local brewery?” “That sounds great dear, do we warn the cops now, or just wait til I start trashing your car?”
Anyway, this friday probably isn’t going to work but I’d be interested in future events.
oh and does the Highlander have pool tables?

The Highlander does have at least one pool table. Also an air hockey table, which I invite you all to play with me, if you promise not to cry like little girls when I beat you.
**breaknrun** , most of us like to drink, so maybe you should leave your wife at home.
There’s no standard procedure for introductions; I usually state ahead of time that my RL name is “Glenn,” but that you’re welcome to call me **Fiver** as well, and that I look like [this](http://www.mindspring.com/~glenn5/images/pages.jpg), which tends to make me stand out in a crowd, so I’m pretty easy to spot.

Well, as it turns out, I don’t need to be at work Friday at night but I probably will have to be back at work at 6 or 7 saturday morning.
How long do you think you all will be there? The lady and I could show up between 8 and 9.

If y’all \*usually[i/] meet at **The Highlander** , is there a motel close by? (like within walking distance?). I ask because even though I live about 30 minutes away, if I’m drinking, I don’t want to be on the road. I too, am sorry that I will miss the party, but because of my job, my schedule is always made out 2 for two weeks at a time. If I have a little more notice (and it’s not my weekend off anyway) I can usually manage things, but not this time.
