# AtlantaDope Fest?

So, anyone up for one? I can’t host. I don’t know when we could do it. In fact I’d request somewhere near a Marta station, or maybe here near campus since I live right off of it. But from what I can find, it’s been a while since an Atlanta Dopefest.
Anyone interested in heading this up and getting the party started?

Yes! Atlanta Dopefest!
We had one [Jan 15](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=290780) when **OpalCat** moved down here, but it’s certainly time for another one. It was a holiday weekend, and kind of a low turnout.
Rides to/from MARTA or Tech can be arranged.
So - who’s in? \*\*jugglerdan, OpalCat, spoke-, Geobabe, UncleBill \*\* and I had a blast the the last time. **Fiver, Archergal, Labdad, Time Like Tears, Enright3, torie, _Deva_, scr4,** and **zette** all meant to show up. **AZCowboy** saw that thread too late, but might do vanity searches … **Poeticyde** now knows that he or she is always welcome, whether as lurker, guest, or charter member.
Who else is around?
And what’s a good day?

**Geobabe** and I are willing and able to go anywhere in the area. There is a Jocks and Jills and a Mellow Mushroom in Brookhaven, right across from a MARTA station, and they have plenty of parking, as long as there isn’t a big game on the TeeVee.
Bad days for us are the first weekend in March, and the last weekend in March. In fact, March is not so good. We watch basketball, are buying a house, and are moving.

With enough notice, I can probably get there next time. There are any number of places to congregate, so ya’ll just pick a time and place. I currently have NO plans except the race at the speedway on the 20th of March.

I’m a college student, so while my schedule is extremely flexible like UncleBill I must request we consider what I had not when I opened the thread: March Madness. Not to say I won’t miss a game for a SD meetup, but I’ll be checking my cell phone every thirty seconds to know the score.
And I know the Mellow Mushroom in question, I can totally dig that if we decide to do this thing there.

I’m sorry I missed Opal’s party. I think I can make it this time - I need to drive to Jefferson at some point, and Atlanta is along the way. (I need to pick up a used [telescope](http://www.teeterstelescopes.com/images/cherryscope1.jpg) I just bought. 🙂 ) I’d prefer a Saturday, but no strong preference for a particular weekend.

I’m in, too. I’d love to meet other Southern Dopers. I don’t have anything major planned for the next couple of months, so I should be able to make it. No preference on the place…Mellow Mushroom sounds good to me.

Alright, well it seems like we’ve got a fairly good sized troupe. And without any saying Mellow Mushroom is not a valid choice, shall we begin picking a date?
I was going to ask about March 13th, which is a Sunday but something reminds me that I think Mellow Mushroom has funky hours on Sunday or something. Anyone remember this or know this?

I also missed Opalcat’s party but I would like to attend the next fest here. I’ll be leaving town on the 10th of March though and won’t return until the 19th. So the 13th would be out for me, but anytime after the 19th besides April 2-3 would be good for me.
